My Take: Same as last month. Nothing much to say other than make sure to not negotiate a low sale price. Audi is currently waiving security deposits, so that should save some money upfront. Oh, don’t forget the AudiCare!

@G- quick question…just got a quote from a leasing company on a 2009 A4 3.2 P+ fully loaded, with tax already in the payment. I know they are trying to get rid of the 09 models and obviously the above residuals and money factors do not apply but it seems like a really sweet deal. Do I go for it? Thanks
@euge. I don’t know since you haven’t provided any details on the deal for the 09 A4. I will say this, if your drive-off fees are around $2000 or less and your monthly payments are at around $600 or less, I say that’s a phenomenal deal. If you can provide all the details of the deal, then I can analyze it and give you a more accurate answer. (I will need the MSRP, sale price, money factor, residual value and your local tax rate)
@G…Apologies G, forgot to put in the price. The lease is $475/month…with tax included in the payment for 39 months at 12k/year. MSRP is 40k flat. Not sure what the sales price, money factor or residual values are considering its the leasing company. I live in NY so sales tax is 8.325%. I will try to get the details though (Res, MF etc..). Again its a 09 A4 3.2 Prem Plus fully loaded minus Navi. Thanks for your help and btw….love the site!!!!
G, what about this deal?
2010 A4 2.0T CVT Premium Plus
Term – 42 months, 10k miles/yr
MSRP – $35905
Sale – $32316
MF – 0.0007
RV – 46%
$1650 due at signing (dealer prep tax fees)
$391.85/mo + tax ($430.06/mo total)
@gene. I am not a very big fan of the term and the residual value, but the MF is great. The deal looks pretty good though, usually I expect these cars to be maybe about another $20 bucks more per month.
what about the residual and term do you not like? Would a 36 or 48month lease be better? (I had those options as well) I plan on returning the car at the end of the term, so how does the residual affect me? thanks in advance for all the great advice. happy new year!!
@gene. 42 month terms means you pay the 4th year registration and only get to drive the car 6 months. Then you get into a new lease and have to pay for registration again (on the new car). Paying registration twice in one year generally not a cost saving move. Another thing is tires. At 36 months, you are kind of pushing it already in terms of tire wear and tear. At 42 months, you are pretty much guaranteed to replace your tires. Most tires cost about $200-$300 per tire, so that’s about $800-$1200 extra you have to pay, then return the car. Now the residual value being low means your lease loan is bigger. When it comes to leasing, the amount we borrow from the bank depends on the residual value (plus interest rate or money factor). The faster the car depreciates, the bigger your loan. I have leased an Audi A4 for 48 months before. Each of my summer tires cost me about $250. I replaced all four around 42-months into my lease, that is why I recommend not going beyond 36 months unless you plan to keep the car.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family!
I am looking at a 39 month lease with a drive off of $1500 for 12k miles on an A4 premium plus with nav package. taxes and audi care included is $561. Selling price on the car is $39,700 with a residual of $21,730.
Am I in a good place with this deal?
@a6toa4. sorry for the ultra delayed response there! You didn’t mention what the MSRP was and how much of a discount you were getting on the A4. Despite the fact that I am personally on a 39-month lease, I am really not a big fan of these “unconventional” lease terms. I leaves in a rather uncomfortable situation when it comes time to renew my annual registration.
I think I will buy an audi quite soon.
