My Take: Yup, it’s here. The highly anticipated 2009 Audi A4 lease rates are out, and they actually look pretty solid. This is surprising since leasing is supposed to be “bad” in this economy. I personally find it hard to believe that automakers will do away with leasing completely, or make it so unattractive to dissuade us from leasing altogether. I suspect that it all depends on the term and the car being leased.

Add 1% to the residual if you purchase the AudiCare package. That will add $650 more to you sale price, but the increased residual will save you money overall.

Be very careful here. If you pick the prestige package, that’s a whole different car with lower residuals and MF. This is just for the premium package. If you haven’t noticed, there isn’t a FWD version of the A4 sedan anymore. Which explain the bump of around $3k on the base price tag. TMV Suggest a sale price of $37,354, which is practically nothing. I’m not surprised. This car is redesigned after all. Still a bit expensive for my taste if you ask me. I would probably look at the 09 C300, I hear that $1000 below invoice is not unheard of.

This one is one is for you Dianne. ^_^ The numbers look pretty good for the A4 Cabrio. So I would recommend it if you are looking for a Convertible. The numbers are certainly better looking than the 3-series right now. With very limited convertibles in the entry-level luxury segment, this one is certianly worth checking out. Who knows, Audi just might not jerk you around like BMW normally does.

Rest of the A4 line up
Numbers look pretty decent, but there is room to go lower. Don’t expect crazy sub $400 a month deals any time soon (ever?). I think as the residuals drop, Audi will adjust the MF to keep the payments around the same ballpark.

  2. Hi Linda,
    Assuming a MSRP of 37,525, you’re getting a discount of about $1200. Not horrible, but not great considering the invoice price is 34,911. I’m not so certain you can get any better to be honest.In any case, you may want to consider having the dealer add “AudiCare” if they haven’t already done so. It will cost you $650 more, but it will save you on maintenance fees during your lease. Overall, it will cost you less because the residual value will increase by 1%, saving you some money.
    The fees you should be concerned with are generally bank fee, doc fee, dmv fee and tire tax. If you are in a state where taxes are due upfront, then you need to add that in. Audi may also have a disposition fee and security deposit. Those are pretty standard. I would recommend negotiating the doc fee to be lower if its high. The other fees are generally non-negotiable.

  5. G – It was a no go. All the numbers I got was with a ~900 dollar cap-cost red. we didnt even discuss! The salesman just happened to add it in without telling me. I only found out when he presented the contract, just before I gave him my CCard!
    Needless to say I went to another dealership and got these numbers:

    ’09 A4 – Premium Plus – Meteor Grey – Wood – 15,000
    540.14/mo
    549.14 with AudiCare
    1705.08 tax at signing
    575 bank fees
    72.50 dealer fees
    130.00 NY State Plates
    550 security (to be waived)

  6. Linda: The new quote doesn’t look very good. Seems you are barely getting $1000 off MSRP. I would try to work for maybe $1000 over invoice, or about $1600 off MSRP. That shouldn’t be too unrealistic. I was just emailing another one of my readers about 5 minute ago. She got about $1800 off MSRP on an A4 3.2 Premium Plus model. I am pretty sure she’s also in the state of NY (she’s paying for the sales tax up front as well).
    If you can get that, expect payments to be around $521 a month, with about the same at signing. Then you can add AudiCare. Which should add about $10 more a month.

  7. G – I heard some rumblings that Audi has revised their September 2008 lease rates on the 2009 A4. Is there any truth to that?

  8. Nick: I haven’t heard or read anything that indicates any changes so far. As a matter of fact, all of the quotes I’ve looked over (as of yesterday) indicate that nothing’s changed, for now.

    $940 upfront charges; $3605 cap reduction
    $475/mo (includes tax and audi care)
    Residual of $22,500

    I’ve negotiated the price, but am trying to negotiate the financing; do you see any wiggle room here? Many thanks in advance,

  11. Nick: That quote actually looks pretty decent, specially if it includes taxes. The most I’ve seen off MSRP thus far is 1800, but on a 3.2 model. So 1645 is pretty darn good for a 09.

    Kyle: I’m a bit confused about the cap reduction. That’s 3605 + 940 at signing? If so, you’re overpaying. Also you can probably shave a few hundred more off the MSRP. Nick’s got like $1645 off MSRP on his, and his is a cheaper model. So I think you can do a bit better.
